Sweet walnut bread known as Cozonac cu nuca is a traditional Romanian sweet bread made with raisins and walnuts to begin the desert feast at Christmas and Easter meals.


I went to Novaci after Gabi’s stories made cakes before Christmas Eve and before Easter. And the stars were aligned for a day as her stories:
6:30 – We prepared the wooden trays
7:30 – the last shopping
8:30 – We started kneading the dough
9:30 – Letting the dough leaven
10:30 – We prepared the stuffing, we spread the dough, made the cozonaci and put them in trays
11:30 – We left them “fattening” while we prepared the oven
12:30 – let them rest in the oven for 45 minutes
